{Girls Night}

I got myself all ready to go out with one of my good friends for a "girls" night out! I got myself kinda dressed up (did my hair but wore jeans and comfy tshirt) and snapped a few pictures before she came because I felt "that" good, you know what I mean right?

I have been looking forward to getting out for quite some time and it was nice to just get out and have grown up conversation without little voices butting in and to eat food that someone else didn't want to help me eat.

Chrissie took me to Northern Lights cinema and grill. It was my first time going there and we saw "This means War" with Reese Witherspoon. The movie was hilarious and the avocado bacon burger I had while watching it was AMAZING! Not only can Northern Lights show a good movie but the food is great too. And because we went to a later showing there were no kids because after a certain time they start serving booze and then you have to be at least 21 to see a movie there.

It was a great night and the best girls night out I have had in a long time. While I was gone William and Chrissie's "Guys" helped William corral the kiddo's and played some video games and a movie too. It was a great and much needed girl time - even if it wasn't for that long it was still rejuvenating.

{The Time Traveler's Wife}

I really enjoyed this movie. It will make you cry so make sure you have a box of tissue next to you. This movie is based on the book by Audrey Niffengger. I think I am going to add this book to my reading list for sure.

Back of Movie Summary:

When Henry DeTamble meets Clare Abshire in a Chicago library they both understand that he is a time traveller, but she she knows much more than this about him as he has not yet been to the times and places where they have met before. He falls in love with her, as she has already with him, but his continuing unavoidable absences time travelling - and then returning with increasing knowledge of their future - makes things ever more difficult for Clare.

{Julie & Julia}

I just finished watching this movie and was very pleased. I cried & laughed throughout this delightful movie. It was just what I needed. The whole time Tugg laid at my feet while I watched it in the guestroom on netflix.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was positively a delight & exactly what I needed today. I really enjoyed it and I think you will too. Happy movie watching!

Below is the what was on the back of the movie box:

A frustrated temp secretary (Amy Adams) embarks on a year-long culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that catches on with the food crowd. The film also covers the years Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and her husband Paul (Stanley Tucci) spent in Paris during the 1940s and 1950s, when he was a foreign diplomat who was eventually investigated by Sen. Joseph McCarthy for alleged communist ties.

{Movie Review}

"City of Ember"

This adventure is set in Ember, a city illuminated only by artificial light. When the city's generator begins to fail, two teens race to solve an ancient mystery and save Ember's citizens from darkness.

This tale is based on Jeanne Duprau's enchanting children's tale.

My Review:

This is a great movie for both adults, teens and families alike. It's full of mystery and action. It was an afterthought added to my netflix queue as I was purusing different family entertainment for my family to watch and I am sure glad I did because not only did I like it but the kids and hubby liked it too. It's Indiana Jones meets Journey to the Center of the Earth. This film is rated PG and is about 2 hours long.

Check it out on your next stop to your video store or in my case local internet movie provider.

{Movie Reviews}

I watched two movies this past week. One being based on the book by Sue Monk Kidd called "The Secret Life of Bees" - this is a great book and the movie follows the book very well. They did a great job meshing the book with the movie. I was really impressed.

The second movies being the third installment of the Underworld Series entitled "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans". It was full of action and if you have seen "Underworld" you know how this one is going to end as they told you why the Lycans and the Vampires now war with one another and this installment is about that time. I must warn you though that this one is full of bloody fight scenes.

{Movie Review}

Last night I watched these two movies with my Uncle & my Hubby! I wasn't sure if I would like either. I thought "What happened in Vegas" was going to be sappy and ridiculously over the top and I thought "Miss Pettigrew lives for a day" was going to be boring but had heard good reviews of both so I added them to my netflix list.

Photobucket

it was a tried and true formula that reminded me of several other "chick" flick, like "how to lose a guy in 10 days" to name one. I must say though it was full of fun, laughter, sobriety and romance. Yes, you know whats going to happen and how it will end but it didn't stop me from enjoying this one. Even hubby & Uncle liked it! This is one that I could watch again.

Photobucket

So funny and yes, another "chick" flick but it wasn't a waste of time either. It's a period piece set in the 1940's I believe, (sometime before the war broke out with Germany). sappy and predictable but a hoot none the less. well worth watching again. Even the guys liked it!

and now for something completely different!!

Do you remember the Thundercats? I grew up watching them as a kid and now I have introduced them to my own children. I have grown tired of the cartoons of today, they are all fight and no morality. Most of the time you don't really know who the bad guy is. I also don't like the animation of today's series they all look the same. So I have been going back to what I grew up with and introducing them to the kids. Thundercats being one of them.

You know what, they didn't hate them, THEY LOVED THEM!! along with Dungeons & Dragons and Heman. If you ever feel the need for a change, get the oldies but goodies out (yes, they come on DVD now too!) and share them with your kids, you just might be surprised!

{Eagle Eye - Have you seen it?}

I saw Eagle Eye tonight and I have to tell you, I LOVED IT! (meaning I will be purchasing this to watch again and again) It was full of action, drama and yes, even a bit of humor. It really picked me up out of my mood today. No one came to the party and the kids were simply put, monsters.

Ruth had a complete melt down and the boys just wouldn't listen. So we did nothing, except eat the ribs I made for dinner, with vegi's of course and then I sent the kids to bed so the 'grups' could watch this movie. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It really is a good watch and not a waste of time.

Hopefully the kids will cooperate and we can do the stuff I had planned tomorrow after church.

{Movie Review}

I just watched this cute movie last night called "Penelope". It was the perfect combination of Comedy & Drama.

Here is the description on the back of the box:

A modern day romantic tale about a young girl's inspiring journey, a mysterious family secret and the power of love. With all odds against her, in order for Penelope to break the family curse, she must find true love with "one of her own kind." The warm and funny adventure leads her to realize the most important life lesson, "I like myself the way I am." Penelope Wilhern, born to wealthy socialites, is afflicted by the Wilhern spell that can only be broken when she finds love. Hidden away in her family's estate, the lonely girl meets a string of suitors in her parent's futile attempt to break the curse. Each eligible bachelor is enamored with Penelope and her sizable dowry... until her curse is revealed. Lemon, a mischievous and eager tabloid reporter wants a photograph of the mysterious Penelope and hires Max to pose as a prospective suitor to get the shot. The handsome down-on-his luck gambler finds he falling for Penelope, but not wanting to disappoint her or to expose his surreptitious ways, he decides to disappear. Fed up by his latest betrayal and determined to live life on her own terms, Penelope breaks free from her family and ventures into the world alone. She finds adventure and Annie, her first friend and becomes the person she was meant to be.

It really is a good movie w/heart. I think you may just enjoy it!

And now onto a very disappointing movie:

"Burn after Reading"
was supposed to be funny & full of comedy, at least that's what the trailer led me to believe. Instead it was confusing to follow and only spattered w/slight funny anecdotes. I was extremely disappointed with it, not only was it long and boring but they said the "F" word too much.

Movie Description:

Burn After Reading, is a new comedy thriller from Academy Award winners, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, Fargo, The Big Lebowski).

At the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency in Arlington, Virginia, analyst Osborne Cox (John Malkovich) arrives for a top-secret meeting. Unfortunately for Cox, the secret is soon out: he is being ousted. Cox does not take the news particularly well and returns to his Georgetown home to work on his memoirs and his drinking, not necessarily in that order. His wife Katie (Tilda Swinton) is dismayed, though not particularly surprised; she is already well into an illicit affair with Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney), a married federal marshal, and sets about making plans to leave Cox for Harry.

Elsewhere in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, and seemingly worlds apart, Hardbodies Fitness Centers employee Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) can barely concentrate on her work. She is consumed with her life plan for extensive cosmetic surgery, and confides her mission to can-do colleague Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt). Linda is all but oblivious to the fact that the gym's manager Ted Treffon (Richard Jenkins) pines for her even as she arranges dates via the Internet with other men.

When a computer disc containing material for the CIA analyst's memoirs accidentally falls into the hands of Linda and Chad, the duo are intent on exploiting their find. As Ted frets, "No good can come of this," events spiral out of everyone's and anyone's control, in a cascading series of darkly hilarious encounters.

The only good thing about this movie was the trailers. They kept me laughing until I saw this very disappointed movie.

{Movies I love}

I know I watch waaaay to many movies - but really it's what hubby and I love to do together. Ya know curl up together after the kids are in bed and watch a good movie. He prefers Action packed movies and I prefer the more girly "chick" flicks. Below are a few movies listed by if hubby and I watch them together or I watch it alone. Enjoy.

MOVIE'S HUBBY ENJOYED W/ME

Empire Records: Fun movie about teenagers trying to figure life out while working in a record store.

Crank: An action packed movie that you won't fall asleep thru. Very fast paced and action packed!

Shaun of the Dead: Hilariously funny zombie movie - if you love to laugh and enjoy a good zombie flick this movie is for you.

Office Space: A silly satire about life working in an office - funny movie.

Stardust: Great movie that really the whole family can enjoy - full of fun, laughter and a whole lot of fun.

MOVIE'S HUBBY WOULD OCCASIONALLY WATCH WITH ME

Pan's Labyrinth: It's subtitled but you can turn it off and if you pay attention you will understand what's going on without reading what they just said.

Legend: A timeless cult classic for most women my age and it has Tom Cruise and mythical creatures - what's not to love?

Labyrinth: Another timeless cult classic that many women my age enjoyed. It has jim henson's muppet's too!

"CHICK" FLICKS - HUBBY WILL WATCH IF I FORCE HIM BUT MOSTLY I WATCH THEM ALONE

PS I love you: A heartwarming movie about a women's journey after her husband dies. Keep the kleenex on hand, you will need it but you will get a great laugh through out this movie too.

The Notebook: A touching story of a man trying to get the love of his life back to him by reading from "the notebook". It came on TV tonight and I laughed, cried then laughed some more then cried. Keep some kleenex on hand for this one too.

While you were Sleeping: This is a funny movie about a woman who thinks she knows what she wants only to find out what she needs is something completely different.

The Bucket List: This one hit home for me as my grandmother died from cancer. Their were parts that were sad, hilariously funny and very touching and I just loved how it ended! A good movie for sure and one I will have to add to my library.

So I hope these movies will keep you entertained and that it helps to find your next movie at the movie store. And if you ever want to know about a movie I more then likely have seen it and can tell you about it (as long as it's out on DVD/VHS now I more then likely have seen it..lol)

{Have you seen?}

Have you seen "The Bucket list"? Well I just finished it and let me tell you it was just what I needed this evening! It was tragic, sad and hilariously funny all rolled into one. But remember to have a tissue box handy because you will shed a tear or two. Seriously, how can you go wrong with Morgan Freeman & Jack Nicholson? I hope you get a chance to see it!
